Welcome to Bibliology
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16
Bibliology is the starting point of all Christian reflection, for without a sure and steadfast Word from God, we are left to drift upon the tides of human opinion. This page exists to set before you the grandeur, reliability, and life-giving power of Holy Scripture—God’s inerrant, infallible, and fully sufficient revelation to His people.
In the study of Bibliology, we behold Scripture as the Triune God’s gracious self-disclosure:
-
The Father speaking His sovereign purposes,
-
The Son revealed as the Living Word to whom all Scripture bears witness,
-
The Holy Spirit breathing out the very text of Scripture and illuminating it to the hearts of believers.
Here we explore how the Bible came to us, why it is trustworthy, how it must be interpreted, and how it stands as the final authority over the life, faith, and worship of the church. From inspiration to canon, from clarity to sufficiency, from preservation to proclamation, Bibliology anchors every other doctrine and every step of discipleship.
Guided by a Progressive Covenantal reading of the biblical storyline and shaped by the rich heritage of Reformed theology, this introduction aims to help believers understand not merely what the Bible is, but who speaks in it. For Scripture is not a library of ancient religious reflections; it is the very Word of the living God, breathed out, enduring, and powerful, “sharper than any two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12).
Whether you are new to the faith or deepening long-held convictions, this study of Bibliology invites you to approach the Scriptures with reverence, confidence, and joyful expectation. The God who created the heavens and the earth has spoken and His Word, unfailing and authoritative, is for everyone who longs to know Him and walk in His truth.

Lesson 1: The God Who Speaks: Revelation
This opening lesson introduces the breathtaking truth that all theology begins with a speaking God. Rather than leaving humanity to speculate in darkness, the Triune God graciously reveals Himself through creation, Holy Scripture, and ultimately in His Son, Jesus Christ. Students will explore the distinction between general and special revelation, the nature of Scripture as God-breathed, the unfolding pattern of progressive revelation throughout the biblical covenants, and the climactic self-disclosure of God in Christ. Centered in the gospel and grounded in the inerrancy and sufficiency of the Word, this lesson invites believers to hear, trust, and respond to the God who still speaks through His written Word.
Lesson 2: The Inspiration and Inerrancy of Scripture
This lesson explores the divine origin, absolute truthfulness, and transforming power of the Bible. Rooted in texts like 2 Timothy 3:16–17 and 2 Peter 1:20–21, it teaches that Scripture is theopneustos, literally “God-breathed.” Every word of the Bible comes from the very mouth of God, perfectly conveyed through human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because God cannot lie, His Word is entirely without error (inerrant) and utterly trustworthy (infallible). The lesson unfolds how the Spirit “carried along” the writers, how the Word of God is true in all it teaches, and how it remains fully sufficient for faith, obedience, and godly living. It also connects the written Word to the living Word, Jesus Christ, who both affirmed and fulfilled Scripture. Ultimately, the lesson calls believers to trust, obey, and delight in God’s Word, seeing it not as a relic of the past but as the living voice of God for today. Scripture stands as the believer’s final authority, unfailing refuge, and the divine instrument through which the Holy Spirit sanctifies and transforms the heart.
Lesson 3: The Canon of Scripture — Why These 66 Books?
Discover how God divinely inspired, preserved, and revealed the sixty-six books of the Bible. Learn why these writings alone are recognized as the authoritative Word of God, how the Old and New Testament canons were formed, and why believers can trust the Bible’s completeness and truth today. This in-depth lesson traces the historical, theological, and Christ-centered foundations of the biblical canon, revealing how every book points to Jesus Christ, the living Word.
Lesson 4: The Authority and Sufficiency of Scripture
This lesson explores the authority and sufficiency of Scripture, teaching believers why the Bible is the final, infallible, and all-sufficient Word of God. By examining how Scripture carries God’s own voice and provides everything necessary for salvation, godliness, and spiritual growth, this study helps Christians understand how to trust, obey, and apply God’s Word in every area of life. Rooted in historic Reformed theology and grounded in passages such as 2 Timothy 3:16–17 and 2 Peter 1:3, this lesson demonstrates that the Bible is the complete, reliable, and life-giving revelation of God, fully authoritative, eternally true, and completely sufficient for the believer’s walk with Christ.
Lesson 5: The Illumination of the Spirit
This lesson explores the essential doctrine of illumination, how the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of believers to truly understand, cherish, and apply the Word of God. Rooted in historic Reformed theology, it explains why the natural mind cannot grasp spiritual truth, how Christ models illumination through Scripture, and how the Spirit continues this transformative work in the life of the church and every Christian today. Readers will learn how illumination fuels sanctification, deepens love for Christ, strengthens discernment, and brings joy, clarity, and spiritual maturity. Discover why the Spirit’s illuminating work is vital for faithful Bible study, worship, discipleship, and a life anchored in the truth of God’s Word.
Lesson 6: Biblical Interpretation
Discover the beauty and responsibility of rightly handling the Word of Truth. This in-depth lesson on biblical interpretation equips believers to study Scripture with accuracy, humility, and reverence. Through the grammatical-historical method, Christ-centered understanding, and dependence on the Holy Spirit’s illumination, you’ll learn how to “cut straight”, interpreting God’s Word faithfully, living its truth joyfully, and being transformed by the light of Christ revealed in every page.
Lesson 7: The Sufficiency of Scripture
The doctrine of the Sufficiency of Scripture stands at the very heart of Reformed theology and Christian discipleship. Rooted in 2 Timothy 3:16–17, it proclaims that the Bible alone contains everything necessary for salvation, sanctification, and faithful living. The Word of God is not a partial revelation awaiting updates or modern improvements, it is complete, final, and perfectly adequate for every good work. In an age of endless voices, cultural trends, spiritual fads, emotional experiences, and self-proclaimed revelations, believers need an anchor that does not shift with the tides. Scripture provides that unshakable foundation. Because it is God-breathed (theopneustos), it carries divine authority and sufficiency for every believer and every generation.
